Steve Irwin Rest in peace

Was rather shocked and surprised to learn of Aussie, bushwhacker, outback, "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin's death today. Steve was killed by a Stingray while he was swimming off the Queensland's Great Barrier Reef (so it says on Wikipedia) as it pierced him in the chest, later after being rushed to hospital he was pronounced dead, having suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

I must admit though some of Steve's past antics having watched them on TV had me concerned just by watching them, about his safety. One episode of his shows I remember was when he was out tracking snakes, and he spotted a Cobra and he attemped to try and pick it up by its tail, but it came very close to biting him and he had to keep his distance as much as he could from the snake as it was very aggressive. Not to mention the danger he could easily have put his son into when he held him in one hand while dangling a dead bit of chicken in front of a crocodile. He also often sustained various injuries during his job, but he was very much a thrillseeker and one of those people who loved his jobs (perhaps a little much. Crikey!).

Nonetheless his death was as shock and a real shame, cos there weren't too many Aussie nature celebs with his zest and personality. So here's to Steve Irwin, you'll be missed.
